The logic boards of the above Mac models have 4MB or 8MB soldered onto the logic board. Traditionally the maximum memory configuration has been limited to 32MB SIMMs. MicroMac's BigSIMM product line breaks this memory barrier and allows you to upgrade the memory to 68MB, 132MB, or even more.

    Let's say, you are working on a report in a desktop publishing application or a mechanical drawing in a CAD program. In order to perform the next step in your work you need to look up some data on the web. So, you start your browser and off you go. You find the document, but it is a PDF file and you need to view it in Acrobat before you can copy the data from that document. Is this really the point where you want to quit your original application, just to be able to launch Acrobat?
    When working with big Photoshop files you can allocate enough memory to the application, so Photoshop does not have to use the much slower hard disk as scratch memory area. The result is a significantly faster operation.
    How about web page design. Do you really want to quit your web page layout program before being able to preview your new page in the browser, or would you rather be able to interactively change the layout and see the results instantaneously in the browser(s)?

RAM Disk: Another trick to speed up the operation of a disk access intensive operation, for example data base searches, is to utilize a RAM disk for the storage of the database. Now, when searching the database, the access and search operation can be performed 10 times, maybe even 100 times faster than when operating the database from your hard drive.
    MicroMac's BigSIMM gives you enough RAM to create a good sized RAM disk.

No Virtual Memory, no RAM Doubler: Virtual Memory simulates RAM by utilizing the storage space on the hard drive, which often is 100 times slower than the RAM.
    RAM Doubler trades off CPU power in order to create free RAM. RAM Doubler constantly employs the CPU to compress unused portions of the memory, to move data to presently unused locations, to get data that now are required, decompress that data and load them into the required location.
    In many cases, when you need your Mac to run faster, the alternative to a processor upgrade is to set aside virtual memory and RAM Doubler and use real memory.
    MicroMac's BigSIMM gives you enough RAM to do just that.
