MicroMac Accelerator Internet Upgrade Charts

Locate your Macintosh in one the Accelerator Internet Upgrade Charts (below) to identify which accelerator(s) MicroMac recommends for an Internet upgrade. The accelerators are identified in two categories:

1. Email access
2. World Wide Web access

An Email classified accelerator is ideal for reading, sending and retrieving Email over the Internet.

A World Wide Web accelerator is suited for accessing Email as well as Web sites and is classified as follows:

1. Minimum Level: A Minimum level classified accelerator meets the minimum requirements for using the Internet. This type of accelerator works best with basic Web browsers such as Mosaic and Netscape 1.0 that are not burden with add ons, extensions and multimedia that require large amounts of RAM and processing power.
   
   
2. Optimal Level: An Optimal level classified accelerator is optimally designed to take advantage of latest Internet technologies by delivering fast processor performance. Web browsers such as Netscape 2.0 are best suited for Optimal level accelerators.
   
   
3. Platinum Level: A Platinum based accelerator offers the best performance for upcoming multimedia and emerging Web technologies such as those found in Netscape 3.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer. Platinum accelerators feature a 68040 or PowerPC 601, 604 or 604e processor. Serious Internet users, Web designers or graphic artists and desktop publishers benefit the most from a Platinum level accelerator.
